Cyprus
Cyprus is a metagroup that originates from the modded Flan's Mod server known as Tyrants et Plebeians. It was formed by Davidgaf (aka MaybeNotSheep5) and _Kesp_ in mid July, 2021, at the start of TaP: Jihad. The name “Cyprus” unsurprisingly comes from their choice of nation and has stuck ever since.
The group was, by origin, a non-belligerent group focused on building and assembling tech, having less than a dozen players. Their growth began when another group in the server, CANZUK (also known as Brits) had failed to capture Israel (located in Africa for unknown reasons) and their assembly line and energy sources getting bombed by Hungarians, an ally of Voltz. This caused frustration and resentment in the group, resulting in some of them quitting the server and others joining Cyprus, which was a non-committed ally of CANZUK at the time that would give them vague advice regarding the tech mods in the server.
With an influx of oppressively competitive manpower and an abundance of tech, Cyprus would go on to defeat Israel, repel a large-scale Voltz-Hungarian invasion resulting in more than a dozen aircraft shot down, and nearly destroying the Hungarian main base located in Sardinia.
The members had participated separately in /int/craft iterations as early as i28, but they first formed their own big group in i36, playing as Oda.
i36
The conflict over the northernmost of the main Japanese islands seems to have been initiated by YogurtcuYcs(Flat Melons), the leader of Oda. For reasons unknown, Oda, originally based on the southern coast of central Honshu relocated to Hokkaido still deep in the grace period. There, Oda antagonized the local Ainu populace and declared war on them, several days before the War Weekend, giving the homosexuality of the Ainu leader – Karadzicu(probably confusing him for the leader of nearby and allied Date), as the main reason for it.
Despite extensive Date-Ainu preparations, Oda started off the War Day 1 with an upper hand. At one time, Oda was even able to claim all but one of the Ainu ports. The good fortunes were soon turned over, however. Unfettered by temporary setbacks, Date-Ainu kept fighting on, continuously wearing Oda down with a series of coordinated back-claiming. In the end, Date-Ainu prevailed, losing 1 node but gaining 4. The defeat shocked many in Oda, and morale plummeted. Most of the nation in fact left it subsequently to fight on other fronts. Nominally, the Oda leadership was sympathetic to Miyoshi, and joining its army was recommended for ex-Oda members, but many of them defied that endorsement, boosting the ranks of the Coalition instead.
In consequence, on War Day 2, Oda was utterly deprived of manpower, and virtually stood no chance against Date-Ainu, which outnumbered them ~15 to 3-4, and stormed through Soya in an hour. For the first time, Hokkaido was fully united under one banner, that of Date-Ainu. Besides, Sendai facilitated an exchange of nodes with the Coalition, to consolidate its possessions in northern Japan and the outlying islets.
